The jungles of Calakmul, Mexico
In July 2025, I was able to join a two week research and conservation expedition in Mexico with Operation Walacea (OPWALL). The first week of this expedition was spent camping in the humid Mayan jungle of Calakmul, doing research and completing surveys to help OPWALL maintain the biodiversity in the area. I took this opportunity to capture some images of the wildlife that the jungle had to offer.
I had to pack light, which meant no fancy camera equipment. In the top of my rucksack I managed to squeeze my Olympus TG7. Despite its compact size this small camera did wonders for me at both the terrestrial site in week 1, and at the marine site in week 2 (see more in "Beneath the ocean's surface")
